In Dreams
Sunday, July 12, 2020
Sleep so gladly welcomed
My eyes tightly close
In preparation of visions
That only appear in the dark of night
Quietly in my dreams
You silently
So sweetly arrive
No words are necessary
To explain
Why you are here
Or why you came
Your silhouette
Your eyes
Once again relay
Within their haunting stare
A love you took
When you went away
Contemplating if you are really here
Seeing you in a different light
As you come to me in the dark of night
I try to reach out
My hand passes through
An image of you
When I speak
Words don’t transcend
Your stare pierces
I don’t comprehend
The message you attempt to send
As you vanish
Once again
Is miss you so
My silent friend
Stormy

A dark sky amid storms
The house so warm and dry
Thoughts of you return
To occupy my mind
A reluctant rainy day pastime
Sounds of drumming droplets
Pelting on the pane
A chorus that slowly lulls me astray
Clouded scenes reappear
I can’t turn away
A day akin
So many years ago
To a time
When you were here
Arms that held me close
A trusted shield
A humming quaver
Within our souls
Each note derived
A paradise
To have and hold
Love meant to last
But like a storm
Change came fast
Old regrets
Etched on translucent glass
A stare that fades
A fleeting mist
A day can change
Most anything
A life once planned
While teardrops sing
As they silently fall upon
The window pane
A painfull stain
Streaming silent sighs
As I held you tight
Crystal drops
Our shattered goodbye

Or a jangled mess
Thoughts racing
Inside my head
Juggling stress
Wondering at times
If my face betrays
Do my eyes
Give my true
Feelings away
Are they revealing
A vision of strength
Behind a closed door
Or the reality
Of a scared woman
Crouched like a child
In a corner
Of the floor
Each day trying
To realize dreams
Practically impossible
To keep pace
Conforming, adapting
To join the human race
With rules so difficult
To comprehend
A desperate attempt
Not to give up
In the end
If you happen
To pass me by
On a crowded street
And peer into my eyes
And think that you’ve
Seen the real me
Then you undoubtedly know
That I’m desperately
Trying again today
To prove to the world
That I’m doing okay
As the Wind Blows

If only I could ask you
How to begin again
Alone here, not knowing
Looking for my best friend
I listen to the wind
As it blows through the trees
Hearkening but not a sound
Comes to me
If you were here to guide
You’d tell me what to do
How to step a foot outside
And start anew
It would be so much easier
With your advice
Telling me to just let go
You’d say, "It’s not that tough"
I’d laugh and think, “he would know”
Remembering how the hard times
Helped us to grow
So come to me now
And together well fly
Finding the key
To start this new life
With new adventures
With new surroundings too
There is just one thing missing though
And that is you
So long you’ve been away
Taken from my view
Come to me now
A rustle in the wind
I’ll be listening
As it blows through
Your Light
Friday, November 22, 2019
Until I felt your light
Shining ever so brightly
Beckoning in the night
As I shivered in the cold
Grounded by fear
Invisible to most
Treading an ocean of tears
Your voice a powerful force
Spoke to my soul
Your message of hope
Praying, don’t let go
Strong hands gently cradled
My heart on that day
Restoring a love
So broken, buried and gray
With each new breath
A calming revive
A new horizon
A brand new life
How do I thank an angel
Who granted me wings
Allowing me to soar
To new beginnings
A Poem I Just Wrote Yesterday
Friday, October 18, 2019
Words have a profound meaning
When spoken by you
Igniting souls, hearts and minds
In an incorporeal truth
Their healing powers
Beyond comprehension
Relieve the pain of loss
A love prematurely taken
Enduring faith and passion
Echoed in your song
Reiterate how life and love
Are truly one
Never take either for granted
For so fragile are they
A gift eternally enchanted
